On the Issues

Housing

So often we have people who need a solid foundation under them and that starts with owning a home. I am in favor of creating a county land bank, as well as building denser home options for young people and seniors looking to downsize. We need to build communities that our children and grandchildren can afford to live in. We can do so without negatively impacting your home equity.

Senior Care

On the other end of the age spectrum, our seniors and elders are facing an unprecedented twin set of crises. Firstly, seniors deserve the ability to be able to affordably downsize when they so choose. We need to expand senior living options to ensure our grandparents, seniors, and elders can retire not only comfortably but with the dignity they deserve. Additionally, as someone who took care of a senior family member, and as a former direct care worker, I know from firsthand experience how difficult it is to take care of our seniors. We need fully funded and staffed senior facilities to ensure our seniors are properly cared for.

Public Safety

We must fully fund and properly staff our Police, Fire, and EMS services. There should never be any question if we are funding 911 services, and yet, this is what the incumbent commission has elected to gamble with: our public safety. As a long-time resident of Sterling Heights, my hometown enjoys one of the safest communities in the nation. This level of public safety should be the standard, not the exception. If elected, I will work to export the Sterling Heights’ standard of excellence to become county-wide.
